The DocBook DTD was originally a joint effort of HaL Computer Systems, Inc. and O'Reilly & Associates, Inc. DocBook is now maintained by the Davenport Group, a discussion forum sponsored by individuals representing producers of software documentation. Two of Davenport's sponsors, Eve Maler (of ArborText) and Terry Allen (of O'Reilly), are the current design team for the DTD. Many other people have contributed to DocBook, among them David Bass, Bryan Caporlette, Dale Dougherty, Conleth O'Connell, and Steve Williams.
